On Wednesday June 1st the Dexter Tigers baseball team traveled to Dover to face Foxcroft Academy. In a great game the Tigers would unfortunately lose in the bottom of the 7th on a walkoff double by the Ponies. The final score for the game would be 11-10.
On the mound Nate Fernald would have an inspiring performance pitching the entirety of the game throwing 105 pitches.
At the plate the Tigers would perform well recording ten runs in 7 innings. The fault of the Tigers would prove to be errors however as they would record 7 across the entirety of the game.
The Tigers will face Orono on Tuesday June 7th in their preliminary playoff game at Orono.
On Tuesday May 31st the Dexter Tigers faced Orono in their second matchup and would lose 11-0.
Kayden Kimball would start on the mound pitching three innings total. Nate Fernald would pitch 0.2 innings next with Chase Farnsworth finishing out the game for the Tigers.
The offensive highlight for the Tigers would be Nathan Schobel who would record 2 hits in his three plate appearances.
The Tigers will play next on June 1st against Foxcroft Academy for their final regular season game.
On Monday May 30th the Tigers would face off against Central on Memorial day. Unfortunately, the Tigers would suffer yet another defeat, losing by a final score of 11-0.
Will Spratt would start on the mound for the Tigers but would only survive 2.1 innings before needing to be relieved by Blaine Gould who would pitch the remaining 3.2 innings which the game lasted.
Will Spratt recorded 2 singles in the game serving as the highlight for the Tigers on the offensive side of the ball.
The Tigers host Orono for senior day on Tuesday, May 31st.
On Friday May 27th the Tigers baseball team would travel to Searsport to have their second matchup against the defending Class D State Champions. The final of this game would be 16-6.
Payson Rienhardt would start on the mound for the Tigers throwing 104 pitches total over 5.0 innings. Ethan Doherty would pitch the remaining 0.1 innings before the Tigers would be mercied.
The Tigers would put up 6 runs against a pitcher who previously had only allowed 1 run the entire season. Still the Tigers would come up short in the game losing by 10 runs.
On Wednesday May 25th the Tigers baseball team would travel to Orono to play their first game against the Red Riots. The final score for the game would be 12-1 in favor of the Red Riots.
Chase Farnsworth would make his first career start on the mound for the Tigers and would pitch 2.1 innings. Payson Rienhardt would pitch .2 innings and Ben Bourgoin and Blaine Gould would finish out the game.
The Tigers only run would be scored by Payson Rienhardt in the 1st after being driven in by a Kayden Kimball double. The Tigers will play next on Friday May 27th at Searsport.
On May 24th the Dexter Tigers would face Penquis for their second game of the week. The Tigers would lose a close game with a final score of 8 to 6.
Willis Rienhardt would record a great pitching performance recording a complete game with 5 strikeouts over 84 pitches.
The Tigers would be able to record several hits and 6 runs but would ultimately fall short leaving 2 runners on base in the bottom of the 7th. The next game would be on Wednesday May 25th at Orono.
On Monday May 23rd the Dexter Tigers traveled to Bucksport to play their second game of the season against the Golden Bucks. The final of the game would be 8-0 in favor of the Bucks.
Making his first career start for the Tigers would be Blaine Gould who would throw two innings for the Tigers followed by 1.2 innings from Ben Bourgoin and 2.1 innings for Payson Rienhardt.
The only hit from the Tigers would come from Nathan Schobel who would record a single. The Tigers would face Penquis next on Tuesday May 24th at home against Penquis.
Dexter v.s Searsport
On Monday May 9th the Dexter Tigers played Searsport home at Ted Clark Baseball Field. In their 7th game of the year the Tigers would unfortunately lose in 6 innings with a final score of 12 to 0.
Starting the game on the mound for the Tigers was Will Kusnierz who would pitch one inning followed by Willis Rienhardt and Chase Farnsworth who would each pitch two innings.
The only runners to reach base for the Tigers would be Will Spratt, Willis Rienhardt, and Will Kusnierz in the 6th.
Dexter v.s Central
On Friday May 6th The Dexter Tigers traveled to Central to compete in their 6th game of the regular season. After a hard fought battle the Tigers unfortunately would come up short losing by a score of 7-3.
Payson Rienhardt would start the game pitching for the Tigers. He would throw 59 pitches in 2 innings while allowing 5 runs. Will Spratt would pitch the remaining 4 innings for the Tigers allowing 2 runs.
Payson Rienhardt would also have 2 singles with Will Kuznierz and Bryce Connor allso having singles.
The Tigers will play next against Searsport at home on Monday May 9th with a 4:30 start time.
Dexter v.s FA
On Monday, May 2nd, the Dexter Tigers would face off against Foxcroft for their fifth game of the season. The Tigers would lose a close game with a final score of 5-3
Will Kusnierz would start the game on the mound and would pitch three innings allowing 5 runs. Nate Fernald would pitch in relief allowing zero runs.
The Tigers would rack up only three runs, 2 scored by payson Reinhardt and 1 by Willis Rienhardt. Several Tigers would hit singles in the game but failed to get a big hit when they needed one.
Dexter v.s Penquis
On Saturday April 30th the Tigers baseball team would travel to Penquis for a game. In the end the Tigers would come up short losing 17-12.
Starting on the mound for the Tigers would be Willis Rienhardt. In his first career start he would go three innings only allowing three runs. However, upon exiting the game the Tigers would struggle in relief allowing 14 runs.
Multiple players would have multiple hits but in the end it would prove too little to get a victory. The Tigers will play next on Monday May 2nd at home Against Foxcroft.
Dexter V.S. Bucksport
On Friday April 29th the Dexter Tigers faced Bucksport home at Ted Clark Baseball field. Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to claim a victory and would lose with a final score of 8-0.
Starting on the mound for the Tigers was Payson Rienhardt who would allow 3 runs in 3.0 innings with two strikeouts. Nate Fernald and Will Spratt would pitch in relief for the Tigers.
The Tigers were unable to obtain any hits with their only baserunners coming from a few walks and one runner who reached on an error.
Dexter v.s MA
On Monday April 25th the Tigers baseball team played their second regular season game against Mattanawcook Academy. Over the past couple of seasons the Tigers have struggled to claim victory over MA including a close playoff defeat which ended the Tigers season last year. However, this event would prove to be different as the Tigers would claim their second victory of the season with a final score of 5-3.
Starting on the mound for the Tigers was Will Kuznierz. Kusnierz would pitch 3 complete innings giving up 3 runs while striking out three and only allowing a single hit. Pitching in relief for the Tigers was Nate Fernald who would pitch 4 complete innings only allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and only throwing 36 pitches.
The Tigers would rack up 9 hits in total to claim their 5 runs. Ben Bourgoin, Will Spratt, and Will Kusnierz would all have two hits including a double by Will Spratt. Payson Rienhardt would also have three hits including a triple. Bryce Connor and Ben Bourgoin would score one Tiger run each while Payson Rienhardt would score the remaining three runs.
The Tigers will play next on Friday April 29th at home where they will host the number 1 ranked Bucksport. This matchup between the number 1 and 2 ranked teams is sure to be a battle and we wish the Tigers luck.
Dexter @ PCHS
On Wednesday, April 20th the Dexter Tigers baseball team faced the PCHS Pirates in the first game of the season. Conditions were cold and windy throughout the game with the wind blowing out towards left field.
The Tigers would claim a commanding victory in only five innings with a final score of 18-0. In total, the Tigers would throw less than 60 pitches over the five innings. Will Spratt threw for one inning, followed by Chase Farnsworth who would throw for two innings. Ethan Doherty would finish out the game for the Tigers, throwing the final two innings.
Batting highlighters for the Tigers included several athletes who would have multiple hits with the highlight being a 3 run home run hit by Willis Rienhardt.
The Tigers will play again at home on Monday April 25th against Mananoncook with the game starting at 4:30.
